Ordination of Fr. Casey Tonrey

During the week of June 12-19th, Bishop. Michael travelled to Taos/Santa Fe to participate in the ordination of Casey Tonrey to the priesthood.  Archbishop Richard Gundrey, Presiding Bishop Emeritus of the Catholic Church of Antioch, hosted the ordination ceremony in his home chapel on Wednesday, June 16th.

Presiding Bishop Alan Kemp of the Ascension-Alliance for Spiritual Renewal ordained Casey to the priesthood with the others assisting and participating.  Fr. Casey was a former seminarian in the Church of Antioch.  It must be mentioned that Bishop Michael and Fr. Casey are as close as brothers, so the event was extraordinarily special for Bishop. Michael as it has taken eight years for Fr. Casey to get to fulfill his goal of being ordained.  In addition to Fr. Casey's family, a number of people from the local church in Santa Fe attended.  It was a beautiful, powerful and meaningfully poignant ceremony.

In this picture, Bishop Michael lays hands on Casey in the traditional way to invoke the Holy Spirit.

Consecration of Thomas David Siebert as Bishop of the Diocese of the Southeast

On the weekend of April 30th, Bishop Michael traveled to Richmond , Virginia to participate in the consecration of Fr. Tom Siebert to the episcopacy.  The Gentle Shepherd community is a wonderful community of very open-hearted and accepting people whose generosity and kindness to visitors is legendary in the Church of Antioch. A few photos appear below.  See the national church website (www.churchofantioch.org) for more pictures.

Bishop's Meeting 2010, Divine Word International Motherhouse

Techny, Ilinois, April 2010

Bishop Michael attended the annual bishops retreat and meeting in the Chicago area, where heparticipated in the consecration of Roberto Foss as the third Bishop of the Diocese of Southern California.  The ceremony was a profound experience to have in a small and intimate gathering.  The meetings were productive and healing.

Easter 2010

Easter 2010 was filled with the Spirit as we celebrated the resurrection.  Although we are a small community, we share a great love for one another and for the mysteries of the Sacraments.  Easter is that time of year when we recognize in ourselves the rising of Christ within, the healing that comes from overcoming, from adapting, from growing.  As we open ourselves to the mystery of the Pascal story, we find ourselves in a place of deep reflection, but also a place of deep joy.  On Easter Sunday this year, we shared that joy with one another, and by prayer, with you.  Some of "the usual suspects" who chose to pose for photos are below.

 Convocation 2009

Convocation was filled with so many activities and sessions that it was hard to take it all in.  Here are a few of the many pictures that people took during the convocation.  For more pictures, please visit http://www.churchofantioch.org.

One of our seminarians from this diocese attended, and Darlen Mitchell appears below with Bp. Michael during one of the receptions.

The seminarians meet for a practicum on Thursday afternoon, and this picture shows some of the seminarians as we engaged in sacramental practice for several of the non-Eucharistic sacraments.

During one of the Masses, Presiding Bishop Mark signs an Intercommunion agreement with Bishop Anastasia Voytedjes of the Argentinian Catholic Church of Antioch.  Along with Archbishop Frank Bugge of the Australian Church (not attending) the instrument creates the Communion of Antioch, which serves as the larger international body which will include other national Catholic Church of Antioch bodies as they are admitted to full communion with us.
